For my e-portfolio, I decided to use the platform Wix because I had heard that the website builder was simple and easy to manage. It ended up being relatively straightforward, but it was a little bit of a hassle at first to get things placed where I wanted them before I got the hang of it. I chose the template with the circles because I thought it looked interesting and pleasing to the eye without being too overwhelming. I chose that picture of myself because I didn’t have a professional headshot and I thought it would be a good fit. I am smiling, my stance is comfortable and casual, I am facing the camera head on, and I am wearing an FSU t-shirt. I wanted to keep the bio on the cover page simple, short, and to the point. I chose a purple background because purple is my favorite color. I decided to make the purple lighter because I thought that a darker purple would be more distracting or would make it harder to see things on the website. Throughout the site, there are also boxes of white and a purple that is a shade darker to give it more dimension. I made the buttons on the home screen green, dark purple, and yellow because I thought they looked nice paired together with the background color. In the site’s footer, I provided my phone number and email address. On the header, you can see my name, occupation, and buttons to move between the pages of the site. The first button takes you to the page that has my resume and cover letter on it. I designed my resume on Canva. I wanted the background to be the same light purple color as my website, but that color wasn’t available so I chose the one that was the most similar. I wanted my resume to be different from a typical one, but still something that was easy to read and understand. I included the same picture of myself from the homepage of my site at the top of the resume and made sure that my name was in big and bolded letters. I laid out my information in a pretty typical way, but broke up the sections with bolded lines. I also added small decals on the contact section. To write my cover letter, I used an online template and a guide from Indeed’s website. The second button on my header takes you to the projects page. In the little blurb at the top of the page, I included a link to my Her Campus profile so viewers could see all of my work. Further down the page, I included six articles I have written: five Her Campus articles and the feature article assignment from this class. Each article square includes the title of the article, a small one-sentence blurb about the article, and a photo of the cover of the article. I made the photos PDF links. This means that when you click on them, you’re taken to the article and are able to read it. The third button on my header contains this reflection, and the fourth is a contact page where people can include their information and send me a message. Overall, I thought this project was really cool and fun (but my favorite is still the feature article).
